Paula Verdicchio

Paula plays any style of music, although Jazz fuels her passion. Ms. Verdicchio graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Studies. Paula performed major works by Mahler, Berlioz, Shostakovich, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Schubert & many more with the Arizona State University Symphony for a span of over 4 years. She recorded with the Arizona State University Symphony during this time including a CD featuring world renowned tuba soloist Sam Pilafian.
She was a hired player in the operatic performances of Die Zauberflote and A Little Night Music with the Lyric Opera Theater of Arizona State. For 2 years Paula was a first violinist for the Grand Canyon Chamber orchestra, & then played for the Mesa Community Chamber Orchestra for a short time. She played for 2 seasons for the well-known Celebration of Easter and Celebration of Christmas Theater productions that exceeded 7,000 audience members. Paula was a soloist and member of the Glendale Community Small Jazz combo, under coaching of well-respected sax player Dave Schmitt. Classical teachers of Ms. Verdicchio include Dr. Frank Spinosa of the Sun City Symphony, Dr. Katie McLin & Jim Apperson of the Amabile Quartet. Ms. Verdicchio studied jazz and improvisation with guitarist Chris Champion.
Paula has shown herself to be a versatile musician, performing Latin and Afro-Cuban music on voice, marimba, bajo, and percussion with the Mexican Marimbas de Comitan. Paula recently taught K-8 music, instrumental ensemble and choir at Our Lady of Fatima School in Lakewood from August of 1999 through June 2002. She performed weekly on piano, violin & voice for school masses with over 400 people in attendance. Ms. Verdicchio has instructed violin in a private setting for 7 years.
Paula taught at Rockley Music from January of 2002--May 2002. She currently teaches classical & jazz violin and modern piano at Music Gear Guys in Wheatridge, and volunteers her time with after school music programs at OLFS in Lakewood. She continues to play locally, at private parties in a jazz combo setting, and at local venues such as the Bluebird Theater, Cleopatra's Martini Lounge and Full Moon Books and Music. Ms. Verdicchio plans to attend graduate school in the Fall of 2003.
